It's ABSTRACT ART by bernard wisser ...Check it out! Here is what Mel Gibson had to say about that to Bill O'Reilly a Fox News Channel Host, "When you do touch this subject, it does have a lot of enemies," When Reilly asked whether The Passion will upset Jews, Gibson replied, "It may. It's not meant to. I think it's meant to just tell the truth." By the way speaking of telling the truth there are lies by omission. Aren't there? Therefore, it should have been beholden on the part of either Gibson or O'Reilly to inform the radio audience that Gibson's company had recently signed a Fat Deal with Fox TV's affiliate and he also bought an option on O'Reillys novel . Rabbi Marvin Hier, dean and founder of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, has asked Gibson to reconsider his motives for making the Passion. He has stated quite clearly that there is nothing wrong in itself with Gibson making the Passion, but what disturbs Rabbi Hier, is that Gibson has stated he would like to undo the changes made by Vatican II. Hier stated he was disturbed because one of the issues that conclave was called on to deal with was rejection of the idea that Jews were collectively responsible for the death of Christ. "If the new film seeks to undo Vatican II ... it would unleash more of the scurrilous charges of deicide directed against the Jewish people, which took the Catholic Church 20 centuries to finally repudiate," he said. Mel Gibson's father Hutton Gibson has been quoted in the New York Times as saying, "…the Second Vatican Council was ''a Masonic plot backed by the Jews.'' He was also quoted as saying "all my ten children are with me" .but that was in reference to their feelings about the Second Vatican Council and not explicitly about Hutton's Jewish, Masonic plot explanation. On March 6, 2003 the New York Post reported the New York Times Magazine "… has an article on Mel Gibson that suggests that this movie could "revive the medieval charge that it was the Jews who killed Christ. The Post also reported that, "Gary Giuffré, a friend of Gibson's reportedly told the Times that Gibson's movie "will graphically portray the intense suffering of Christ, perhaps as no film has done before," and adds that it will "lay the blame for the death of Christ where it belongs." (The New York Post) Gibson is an traditionalist Catholic and is willing to put his money where his beliefs lay. He is the sole financial benefactor for a Catholic Church built in Malibu that is not affiliated with the Roman Catholic Archdiocese. Though it is a large church, it membership numbers only 70. It's mass is held in Latin in contradiction to the Second Vatican Council's instructions to hold mass in the official language of the country, the women members of the congregation cover their heads in the church, wine is used for communion rather than grape juice, and fish is eaten on Friday by the congregants. How traditionally someone wants practice their religion should be no business of any of us except if it poses a danger to the health and welfare of it practitioners and others. However, the traditionalist movement is disturbing to the Catholic establishment and it practitioners and also to many Jews who fear a revival of them transmitting the idea that all Jews should be held accountable for the Death of Christ a habit still acted out by some parish priest in defiance of Church policy. Recently the Italian newspaper Il Giornale reported that Gibson made a ''scathing attack against the Vatican,'' calling it a ''wolf in sheep's clothing." It is no wonder that ,Bishop Daniel Dolan, founder of more than 30 Latin Mass churches, has welcomed Mel Gibson's increased involvement. 'To put the weight of his Hollywood celebrity behind the truth that the whole modern church structure is rotten to the core is excellent,' he told the Times. Dolan As a seminarian at Ecône in autumn 1973, he had already come to the conclusion that the only logical explanation for the 'evil' of the New Mass and the errors of Vatican II was that Paul VI, due to personal heresy, had lost the pontificate. Ever since, he has steadfastly held that position regarding Paul VI and his successors, and never once acknowledged them as popes in the Canon of his Mass. That position has come to be called "sedevacantism" (from the Latin term for the interregnum between popes). So when Mel Gibson decides to make a movie about the Passion and finance it with his own money at a cost of approximately 23 Million dollars it certainly raises legitimate questions about his agenda in making the movie. Mel Gibson is the sole financial benefactor of an ultra-traditional church, and wishes to overthrow the reforms of Vatican II with its ecumenical emphasis. That is one reason to be worried about what Gibson may be trying to stir up with his making of the Passion. It is no more fair for a son to be held guilty for the sins of his father than it is to hold the whole Jewish people accountable for the death of Jesus in which a few powerful and perhaps devious Jewish temple priest plotted his death. However it would be naïve to believe that a parent's beliefs have little or no effect on his or hers children when so many sociological studies have shown, a person 's political leanings for instance is affected significantly by his parents political view. Most people belong to the party and vote for the party their family has voted for, sometimes for generations. If that is the case, there is a serious cause for concern while realizing his fathers belief's is not sufficient grounds to hold a child a accountable; since, many children disown their parents prejudices. To suggest that Mel harbors the same beliefs a his quixotic father would require some supporting evidence Here is some other quotes of his father Hutton Gibson made to Christopher Noxon and published in the New York Times: ''Mel wasn't raised in the new church, and he wouldn't go for it anymore than I would,'' he said. ''I've got to say that my whole family is with me, all ten of my children." "Hutton flatly rejected that Al Qaeda hijackers had anything to do with the attacks. 'Anybody can put out a passenger list,' he said. "So what happened?" 'They were crashed by remote control,' he replied. It should be noted the latest fad in Anti-Semitic propaganda takes the form of; it was Israeli agents, along with the CIA, that bombed the WTC. About the Holocaust here what Mel Gibson's Dad had to say, ''Go and ask an undertaker or the guy who operates the crematorium what it takes to get rid of a dead body,'' he said. ''It takes one liter of petrol and 20 minutes. Now, six million?'' It was at this Point Christopher Noxon points out that Hutton's new bride Joy, "…from across the table… suddenly looked up from her plate. She was dressed in a stylish outfit for church, wearing a leather patchwork blazer and a felt beret in place of the traditional headdress. She had kept quiet most of the day, so it was a surprise when she cheerfully piped in. 'There weren't even that many Jews in all of Europe,' she said." We can give Mel's new step-mommy the benefit of the doubt…perhaps she got her facts wrong, she probably heard that after the war there weren't that many Jews left in Europe. Mel's daddy quickly stepped in to correct her information, "...anyway, there were more after the war than before,'' Hutton added. He definitely got his facts wrong or spouts what suits his agenda. Noxon's interview with Hutton sounds like some type of ludicrous satire on Anti Semitism, unfortunately, Mel's Gibson dad actually speaks that way; still, it's hard to believe he thinks that way, for in fact, it's hard to believe anyone thinks that way. However, the alternative would be if they didn't believe what they were saying, they would be going out of their way to blacken and endanger the Jewish people. After that in Noxon's New York Time Magazine article, Noxon quoted Hutton Gibson, as putting forth a hypothesis that Hitler had a deal with 'Financiers'. "He (Hitler)'had this deal where he was supposed to make it rough on them (Jews) so they would all get out and migrate to Israel because they needed people there to fight the Arabs,'' he said. (I guess they refer to the financiers and the implication is the financiers were Jewish and seeking recruits to go to Israel). Even if you are not Jewish, you can say "Feh!" to that one. It should be noted that an elder of Mel's Church "Holy Family" stated that while Mel shares the same religious foundation as his dad he parts company with him on many points, according to Noxon. Therefore, no one really knows how influenced Mel is by his Dad's wild notions. They certainly agree in their opinions on the post Vatican II structure and the current spiritual quality of the Church, and that in their opinion there has been no legitimate popes from Vatican II on. Moreover in a 1995 playboy interview Noxon found, that Mel Gibson commentating on Presidential assassinations, said all the presidents who either got assassinated or those on whom assassinations were attempted, were trying to do something with the Federal Reserve Bank that would have repaired our economy. According to Noxon, Gibson went on to say he had better stop talking about it (the assassinations) or he would be killed. When pressed about exactly what those Presidents were addressing themselves to ''I can't remember what it was. My dad told me about it…. Such uncritical acceptance makes one wonder if Mel Gibson also incorporated his fathers Jewish/Masonic conspiracy theories just as uncritically." In his interviews with Time Magazine, with Tom O'Reilly, and with Noxon, Mel Gibson has taken the offensive; by suggesting, anybody will be confronted by enemies who try to do an honest picture on Christ. He says the minions have been sent out to harass him, his family, and to interfere with the making of the Passion movie. After Noxon's article, he even implied Noxon was one of them. He said those guys were spying on him, his finances, and his family. Noxon had tea with his father at his Dad's home, and a Roast beef dinner in a restaurant with him. That neither sounds like harassment, nor a spying mission, it seems more like a journalist at work. Mel, also said he didn't mind people taking himself on but when they take on his poor old 85 year old father that's another thing. Now, his dad has the vitality and looks of someone years younger, is married to a much younger woman, publishes reactionary books and puts out a reactionary magazine, and uses his own celebrity and his son's (by osmosis) to flaunt his wild hateful ideas, and--by the way-- is a lot more articulate than his son. His son need not worry about Daddy. Daddy will probably just dismiss his detractors as being part of a Jewish Masonic conspiracy and his wife will probably smile her genteel smile and add 'you see those Jewish people have the whole brick laying trade tied up…first it it was banks and now they worked their way down to brick laying. Passion Plays I think for those who have no historical perspective about Passion Plays we should probably explain Jewish and moral Christians concerns about Passion Plays, and now the Passion cinema. The most notable Historical example of a Passion Play is the Oberammergau Passion Play. From the 17th Century to about 1990 those passion plays fanned hatred towards Jews. Before the holocaust anti-Semitism and pogroms in Euro tragically increased during the year in which the Obermmergau Passion play was presented. Both representatives of the Jewish faith, and Christian Scholars as well as Christian leaders have in the past accused the Oberammergau Passion Play of being deliberately anti-Jewish. Franklin Sherman writing for "The Lutheran", verifies that good grounds for that "once" existed. He precedes this admission by explaining how the plays focused hatred on the Jewish people and continued the centuries old slander of them. http://www.thelutheran.org/0006/page23.html According to Sherman, "The priests and other Jewish leaders formerly appeared in outlandish robes and hats with horns, signifying alliance with the devil. Meanwhile, Jesus and his disciples were dressed normally, their Jewish heritage obscured. These false distinctions have been abolished (according to Sherman the reforms started in 1990 and were completed in 2000 Jesus now is addressed as Rabbi. In going to Jerusalem, he chants a pilgrimage psalm. The Last Supper is depicted as a Passover Seder. "Why is this night different from all other nights?" John asks. In response, Jesus recites words from the Passover Haggadah (table liturgy). Thus Jesus is firmly situated amid his people. The revised text makes clear that the conflict involved in the Passion story wasn't a struggle between "Jews" and "Christians," with the former meriting eternal condemnation for their role as God's enemies. That notion of collective guilt has had terrible consequences for Jews through the centuries, including the Holocaust. Earlier in "The Lutheran" article Sherman emphasizes Christians who have attended the Passion Services in church would be surprise how different from the literal reading of the Gospel text given in church and the dialogue found in the Oberammergau Passion Play. He explains the reason for that is: "… the Passion Play at Oberammergau contains a great deal of added material. As in a TV "docudrama," the authors fill in the spaces with dialogue that could have been spoken by the various characters and incidents that might have happened. Elaborate staging and costuming, choral and instrumental music, and "living images" depicting related Old Testament events add to the impression. Therein lies the possibility for creative interpretation of the biblical story - and distortion of it (italic mine)." Two thousand of the citizens of Oberammergau out of a population of five thousand, so one can imagine how much dialogue has to be added by individuals who are conditioned from birth with an anti-Jewish understanding of the Passion. That the producers of the Passion and town leader are serious about alleviating those biases based on 2nd hand historical distortions can be seen in the fact that the town fathers' have been cooperating with the American Defamation to come up with a historically accurate non-biased script. Here is what the ADL newsletter had to say about that: http://www.adl.org/Interfaith/Oberammergau/Intro.asp "The Oberammergau Passion Play will be presented in Germany on May 21, 2000. The script of the new version has been changed much to avoid anti-Judaism and the organizers are to be congratulated for their editorial efforts and constant cooperation with ADL. We look forward to continue our creative working relationship. There is still, however, a serious problem and concern about the very negative presentation of Jewish leadership in the complex society of the First Century. It implies a sense of community guilt for Jesus' death, minimizing Pilate's and Roman responsibility for the death of Jesus." They go on to say that they hope to work closely to eliminate the distortions presented in the presentation of the Passion of Jesus Christ. So Mel Gibson if you truly want to give an honest presentation of the Passion, perhaps you should get together with the ADL or both Jewish and Christian scholars so that your hoped for masterpiece of "truth" will be as unvarnished as the erasures of history can allow it. Obviously, Jesus should be called Rabbi. It should be emphasized that Mary and Joseph are and remained Jewish through their lifetimes, and all the disciples remained Jewish. It should also be made clear that the disciples and their followers continued to meet in synagogues alongside of fellow Jews who did not believe Christ was the Messiah they were expecting; yet still welcomed his follower to attend services. And Mel perhaps you should out for many years Jewish Christians continued to worship in synagogues, and saw no need to call their brother and sister at large to account for the death of their beloved teacher and believed savior Jesus of Nazareth. If you really want to tell the true story of Jesus Mel you should consider these possibilities. Instead of starting a P.R. campaign a year ahead of time painting as nefarious anyone who is concerned about how you intend to tell the story of Jesus' Passion, since the way it was told in Oberammergau through the centuries led right to the door of concentration camp not too far from that town. Mel I believe those concerned individuals are more justified in claiming victimization , than Mel Gibson. You might even give you dad a little historical spriritual lesson so that maybe he will shed his anti-semetic views before he meets his maker. Show the world your good faith and you will recoup you investment materially and spiritually ten times over. This is a test of your humanity Mel, if you flunk it, you have no gripe to make to those calling for a boycott of your movie. Your baby blue eyes, and bawling that you are a victim because you showed the real story of the Passion, won't wash, for even you are not such a consummate actor. By the way it would be a bad tactic to poo pah the concerns of those who wonder how you will portray the Jewish people in the Passion. You see already your anti-semitic admirers are beginning their attack of concerned people in coming to your defense, already they are painting that concern as a Jewish conspiracy Here is what one of your admirers wrote: Mel Gibson's Film on Jesus Christ: "buono per l'anima, non buono per il portafoglio" by Hector Carreon La Voz de Aztlan Los Angeles, Alta California - January 16, 2003 - (ACN) Film Director Mel Gibson said recently during a press interview in Italy that his new film "The Passion" is "buono per l'anima, non buono per il portafoglio" which means good for the soul, not good for the wallet. Mr. Gibson, a devout Christian, is having to finance his film depicting the last twelve hours on earth of Our Lord Jesus Christ entirely with his own funds. He has now earned the wrath of Jewish Hollywood and the Jewish Media. Apparently, the Jews are not too happy that actor-director Mel Gibson has undertaken a film project on the cruel and heinous crucifixion of Jesus a little more than 2000 years ago by the Pharisees. They are now making his life very difficult. Mr. Gibson said Tuesday on a Fox News Channel talk show interview that a reporter from a reputable publication was sent to attempt to "dig up dirt" on him in order to discredit him and his film. "Whenever you take up a subject like this, it does bring out a lot of enemies," Gibson said. "" That's enough to almost make me want to boycott your movie, but I'm waiting to see if you are going to take in consideration those many humanists concernes about presenting a historically objective version of the Passion; and, if you demonstrate publically how you intend to meet the legitimate criticism about many previous productions of Passion Plays. Just to set the record straight I should say I was born Jewish, and since 1980 I have practiced Buddhism after taking a vow that I would look for refuge and spiritual liberation through the Buddha. More to the point I am a lover of Jesus Christ as presented in the Gospels although I detest the heinous treatment my people have received in his name as I am sure he would or does. However, I am concerned that a number of young people brought up in the Christian faith, looked at me like I was crazy when I mentioned Christ was a Jew. I thought maybe they believed he converted from Judaism but that wasn't their take, they in fact found it hard to believe Christ was born a Jew and was confirmed as a Jew…enough said... Oh, I nearly forgot, Mel Gibson's Passion is going to be filmed nd the Language christ spoke, and most scholars agree with that. However he most likely used Hebrew when he conducted the Last Supper's Passover seder. I wonder if Gibson is going to aknowledge that, or is he going to obscure Christ being Jewish. I guess the second language Latin is being used because it was the Language of the Romans. Now maybe I'm a little paranoid but with the mideast being so unstable I'm a little wary about what is actually being said, and with what emphasis about the Jewish people in that script. It would be nice to be able to understand it. Could those aramic words inflame Aramic speaking Arabs, more than they are inflamed already against their Jewish neighbors. One can only hope they are being paranoid in considering that scenario... "" That's enough to almost make me want to boycott your movie, but I'm waiting to see if you are going to take in consider of those humanist who are concerned about presenting a historically objective version of the Passion and demonstrate how you intend to meet the legitimate criticism about many previous productions. I thought maybe they believed he converted from Judaism but that wasn't their take, they in fact found it hard to believe Christ was born a Jew and was confirmed as a Jew…enough said.. .
